Hope

Our theme for Sunday service this week is hope. Hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.” It is a well-known feeling for everyone. We hope for a new job, better health for an ailing family member, beautiful weather so we can enjoy the outdoors on the weekend, and sometimes, we even hope for forgiveness from someone who is not so close to us at the moment.

How can we find hope amid uncertainty, conflict, or loss? Hope is deeper than simple optimism, and more mysterious, delicate, and elusive. It can foster determination—the ability to bounce back and to remain determined despite failures and setbacks. We will focus on hope during our readings and sermon on Sunday.

Rita Volz, worship committee chair, leads this service.
