St. John’s is please to announce it has awarded students Emma Lawrence and Maya Newman its Dr. Catherine Roma Scholarship, recognizing excellence in academics, arts and social consciousness.
Emma has been a member of many choirs including the Milford High School Chamber Singers and OMEA All-State High School Choir. She has volunteers at a soup kitchen and performed other service.
Maya plays oboe, English horn and piano in her high school band and helped start a bell choir at Heritage UU Church to include more children in making music. She has volunteered with the Modern Abolitionist movement and as a researcher for the End Slavery Now – Slave-free Buying Guide for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
