Rev. Dr. Lucas Hergert grew up at St. John’s and first heard his call to ministry in the youth group. He now serves the North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield, Illinois, and teaches preaching at Meadville Lombard Theological School. He is the author of Impassioned: A Guide to Progressive Preaching. He will deliver a sermon about finding hope in a time of sharp words and painful messages.

FYI: St. John’s and First Unitarian will share summer services again this year. The first two Sundays of July and August will be at St. John’s. The second two Sundays of each month will be at First Unitarian. On Aug. 31, the final Sunday in August, we will return to our individual congregations.
