Soup & Bread Lunch Feb. 8
The next Soup and Bread lunch in support of our Partner Church in Szentlàslò is February 8 after service
Folks bring food and we all eat in Community! We have a “pay what you will” practice. Eat for free, or if you can give $6 or more, we will pass collected funds to our partner church.
The food is always GOOD!! If you can make and bring a big batch of soup, that would be great!
Congregational Covenant Discussion Feb. 8
Following numerous meetings, interactions and discussions with St. Johners, the team has
a draft for you to consider and discuss. Please stay after the Soup & Bread lunch.
Circle Suppers
Circle Supper signups are ongoing. Watch for Mary Lynne Schuster in Krolfifer after church to see which dinner works for you. You can also email Mary Lynne Schuster, and she will send you the list of what dinners are when, with how many spots. Right now, we have 10 dinners between February and May. They are all potlucks, and each person can sign up to attend one dinner, to give everyone a chance to participate. If you are hosting, don’t forget to sign up to attend a dinner as well if you want!
Newcomers: You are especially invited! If you have joined us in the last year or so, this is such a fun easy way to get to know people.
Feb. 15 After Church: New Directions for Found House
Our community partner Found House Interfaith Housing Network (FHIHN)
recently opened an emergency shelter for unhoused families. After worship on Feb. 15, let’s gather in Krolfifer Hall to discuss new opportunities to engage with and support unhoused families. FHIHN director Stacey Burge will present.
The SJUU Found House team has ideas for things we can do collectively–and we want you, including families with children, to be part of the conversation!
Food and childcare will be available. Contact Wanda Crawford with questions.
February Forum Feb. 1
The next Forum is on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 9:45 in Krolfifer Hall. Ann Schuur will share information on the non-profit Ohio End of Life Options. She will speak about the organization and current end of life options in our state and other states. At this time, Ohio does not have a medical aid in dying law. The mission of Ohio End of life Options is: To raise awareness and provide fact-based education about Medical Aid in Dying laws for the terminally ill in Ohio in order to achieve the enactment of such a law.
Help Willows families with tutoring/ESL
The Willows Project does more than food and warm clothing distribution. This month, organizers are starting up its homework help/tutoring on Mondays and English class/language exchange on Wednesdays at an Elementary School near the Willows.
If you’re interested in participating, you’ll need a background check, which the school district does at its Central Office, 3900 Cottingham. Please contact Paul Breidenbach, paulb@willowsproject.org, or Elaine Dulovich, elained@willowsproject.org, board members of The Willows Project, for more information. Ask Claire Wagner if you prefer their phone numbers.
