Rummage Sale Q&A

If I bring things to sell at the yard sale, will I make any money?

No, this is a fundraiser for the church. What you bring is a donation.

If my things don’t sell, will I get them back?

If you are present at the end of the sale, you can pick out your things, but we’ll have a truck loading up everything that doesn’t sell to take it to a thrift shop.

What kinds of things shall I donate?

Children’s clothes, kitchen items, dishes, linens, toys, games, puzzles, home decor, jewelry, CDs, DVDs, books, workout or sports gear, furniture, working electronics and small appliances – just about anything that is in good condition and clean.

I can’t decide if something would sell!

If it’s clean and in good condition and you no longer want it, bring it. After the sale everything left goes to a thrift store.

Should I price my items?

No. A couple volunteers will do that in order to have consistency. However, DO mark sizes or add a tag with anything a buyer should know about the item.

When can I drop off my stuff?

You can drop off items at St. John’s now (to the Nightingale Room downstairs). If you need help, volunteers will be available Aug 1 and 2 to help you unload. NOTE the last day to drop off items is Monday Aug 4 from 10 AM-2 PM.

How can I help?

We need lots of volunteers! In the days before the sale, we’ll need help setting up tables, arranging and pricing items, making signs and other advertising. During the sale, we’ll need help assisting buyers, and circulating to talk to folks. New this year, we are selling food (can you donate baked goods?) and drinks and need help at this station! After the sale, we will need help loading the truck to take leftover items to a thrift shop, as well as general cleanup.
