Breath betrays us

Virus slays us

Knee upon the neck.

.

Strangle hold

The story told

Of God by the river bank

.

Bending to scrape the mud

shape it, make it

Into an image of

.

Themselves

.

Ruach blew the breath of life

Bringing Adam to be

Oxygen feeding the spark

.

Of flame

Of love

Of protest

.

Minneapolis is burning

.

We cannot breathe

.

Betrayed by

.

Breath

.

Itself.
