Giving to St. John’s through your IRA – and saving money!

If you are at least 70½ and have not yet taken your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for 2019, please consider making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to St. John’s to satisfy all or part of that IRA requirement.  You may use the QCD to pay your 2019-2020 pledge, or to make an additional contribution to our congregation.

You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA RMD directly to a qualified charity such as St. John’s without having to pay income taxes on the money you withdraw. A transfer of money to St. John’s via a Qualified Charitable Distribution generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.  But hurry… you must set up the gift before the end of December!

To learn more or to let us know you have set up a QCD gift, please contact Jim McDonough mcdonojf@ucmail.uc.edu or Joetta Prost joettapro@mindspring.com.  Thanks for your generosity to support St. John’s!
