Race Matters: Black Lives in the Supreme Court 2005-2023
Howard Tolley, member and professor emeritus of political science, will report on race related US Supreme Court decisions made since John Roberts became Chief Justice. The court’s rulings on voting rights, gerrymandered election districts, school desegregation, the death penalty, affirmative action, lethal use of force by police, and prosecutorial immunity reveal the legal system’s evolving approach to resolving disputes over black lives as newly appointed justices reconsidered civil rights precedents.

Inflation Reduction Act
Tony Potochnik, member and KY Citizen Climate Lobby state coordinator, will present on the current status of climate legislation in the federal government. Focus will be on the Inflation Reduction Act and its rebates and tax credits that promise to hasten our transition to clean energy.
November 19
Revitalizing Green Sanctuary at St. John’s
Jeanne Nightingale will present updates on Revitalizing Green Sanctuary at St. John’s. Several years ago, St. John’s took the steps to be certified by the UUA as a Green Sanctuary Congregation. Composting, fair trade coffee and more efforts were enacted. Details TBA.
