How do we as an active faith community support women’s rights when governments are removing them and diminishing the health and worth of American females?
For all St. Johners who are interested in strategizing a response to the fall of Roe, you are invited to attend online training and/or meet with a group of us virtually about how to plan.
St. John’s has a long history of supporting reproductive rights, and Planned Parenthood in particular. Our UU commitment to the inherent worth of every person includes the right to bodily autonomy.
When I was a student minister, I remember senior ministers telling stories of how they kept secret the names and networks of abortion care providers. My mentor was active with the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
Several of you have mentioned your activism to me.
In Ohio, we have Faith Choice Ohio to provide training and support for clergy and church members who want to protect reproductive choice and care for those who need abortion care. You can learn about them at faithchoiceohio.org.
Faith Choice Ohio offers a 7-8 p.m. July 28 online session called Religion and Repro that you can attend by registering on its site.
I would like us to share what we are doing and brainstorm what we might do together. I hope to coordinate a virtual conversation the second week of August. Details to come.
