Dear Church,

In our tradition, we believe that everyone’s voice matters; that everyone deserves to be seen; that each of us have a perspective and that is important. 

Historically, Unitarians and Universalists have worked to promote the voice and vote of all people in our United States.

How can you help bring your values to the common table of our democracy?

John Kachuba, St. John’s member and board member of Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio (UUJO), provided a short list:

1. Register for UUJO’s online Community Conversation about voter advocacy, featuring the documentary, “Suppressed: The Fight to Vote.” The program is Saturday, April 18 from 10 am – 12. Register at:  https://actionnetwork.org/events/comm-conv-cinci/

2. Register for UUJO’s online Spring Gathering on April 25, much of which will be dedicated to the UU the Vote initiative. Register at: https://actionnetwork.org/events/uujo-spring-gathering/

3. Join the local “UU the Vote Cincy” facebook group to stay informed. Find it at: UUtheVote-Cincy

4. Donate online to UUJO at uujo.org

5. Join a UU the Vote team by sending name, email, and phone to John at: jkachuba@fuse.net

As your minister, I implore you to take your whole self to the ballot whether you are voting absentee or at the polling site.  Bring your commitment to justice and equity.  Bring your compassion. Bring your sense of hospitality and care for the stranger.  Bring your “UU-ness” into full conversation with your choices from the smallest office to the highest and vote like your life depends on it. 

It is no longer an exaggeration to say that the body and soul of our nation is at stake.
