St John’s respects that High School is a critical time of spiritual growth for many young people.  Therefore, our high school programs are a little different than other R.E. programs.  High school age members and visitors are welcome to join us at Sunday Service of participate in our youth group as best meets their needs.

YRUU – St. John’s High School Youth group – not currently active

Our Senior High youth group was named YRUU, the Young Religious Unitarian Universalists. They met every Sunday and welcomed all high school students.

Our program was based on the components of youth leadership, community building, worship, learning and social action. The members of YRUU ran their group themselves with the help and guidance of several adult advisors. Most weeks they met for a discussion on a topic we have selected. They organized and presented two Youth Services each year at St. John’s.

From former members: Several times each year some of us attended a “Con” at another UU church in the UU Heartland District (Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan). Each Con starts on a Friday, and participants spend the weekend working on a specific topic, having lots of fun, and meeting other UU’s, with supervision and guidance from adults from the churches involved. We return from the Con’s on Sunday, having learned a lot, had a great time, and in a totally exhausted state.
