Choir – Another Fun Year Coming Up
First choir rehearsal will be Thursday, August 28th: 7 – 8:30 p.m.
We will have a choir social/pizza party on Thursday, Sept. 11, after a short rehearsal.
We want to issue a special invite to anyone who would like to join our FUN group. If you sing in the shower or hum in your car, we welcome you to come and try us out. Don’t be intimidated. We love new faces!!
Yard Upkeep, Next Day, Saturday, Sept. Sep. 20
David Terry, our member grounds carer, invites other volunteers to help him spruce up St. John’s grounds the 3rd Saturdays of the month, from 9 a.m.-noon.
Men’s Group
The men’s group meeting on Sept. 7 will be at 6 p.m. at St. John’s. The focus will be artificial intelligence, with presenter Jeff Hendrickson.

While his presentation will use the big screen in Krolfifer Hall, he is asking attendees to bring their own laptop, if they have one.
The Men’s Group Retreat is Oct. 11 at Twin Towers, starting at 9 a.m. Both current Men’s Group members and potential new members are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is $10, collection to be made at the Sept. 7 Men’s Group Potluck, or contact John Kachuba. The theme is Reflections on Coming of Age. Planned activities are: 9 to 9:50 am: Chair Yoga; 10 – 10:45 am: Check-in and program preview; 10:45 am -12:15 pm, Reflections on Coming of Age, sharing recall of positive and/or negative significant experiences, events and individuals; 12:15 – 1 pm: Lunch (pool table available for play); 1 – 2:30 pm: Reflections on becoming and being a UU; 2:30 pm: Next Steps for the Men’s Group and Wrap Up; 3 pm: Closing. Optional: (1) 0.9 mile woods walk loop trail at Hammond North or (2) Twin Towers 1.3 mile sidewalk stroll on Patio Homes loop trail.
Present or Recommend a presenter for the Forums
Would you like to present at one of the monthly Forums at St John’s or do you know someone you’d like to hear? If so, please contact Amy Monson with your idea and suggested date.
If the topic is accepted, you will be given the procedure on advertising a forum. Amy will arrange the room for the Forums and assist with the electronics and microphone.
The Forum dates are Oct. 5, Nov. 2, Dec. 7, Jan. 4, Feb. 2, March 1, April 5, May 3 in Krolfifer Fellowship Hall from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Chalice Groups are back!
Are you looking for a way to deepen your connections at St. John’s? Or might you be looking for a way to broaden your spiritual growth? Registration for Chalice Groups is now open! Groups will be meeting once a month starting in October. There will be two in-person groups and three virtual groups, with the possibility of more groups if enough people are interested. Questions? Contact Diana Long.
LETUS Singers aka Children’s choir
Rehearsals for the LETUS singers will begin again on September 7. All, aged 4 and up are invited to join. We rehearse most Sunday mornings from 10 to 10:30 downstairs in the Rosa Parks Room.

Remember the fun we had last February? Remember that we ran out of time for everyone to perform? Well, here we go again, another opportunity to show us what you can do!

No matter how little or how much you did toward making the sale so successful, you and your family are invited to a potluck on Sunday, Aug. 31 at church. We’ll meet in Krolfifer at 5:00 for good food and good company. Please bring a dish to share, if it isn’t too much trouble – or just join us!

Meditation on Wednesdays and Sundays
Meditation is available 4:30-5:15 p.m. Wednesdays in Haehnle Hall. There will be no Sunday morning meditation Aug. 24. Sunday morning meditation will resume at its normal time, 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m., on Aug. 31.
