On April 20th the Classical Roots Community Choir will be performing with the Cincinnati Symphony. This year, several St Johners are participating as members of the Choir.   CSO is offering a fundraising opportunity for St John’s.   For each ticket purchased with our church code (24965), St John’s will receive a 20% cash donation for each ticket cost.  During its 17-year history, Classical Roots has grown from a small concert series in African American churches into a diverse city-wide community of music lovers coming together to celebrate African American musical traditions with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The Classical Roots community connects people of different backgrounds through a wildly popular spring concert, often joined by notable guests who embody the African American musical experience. In the past special guest artists have included Cynthia Erivo and Common.

The all-volunteer Classical Roots Community Choir is led by Conductor William H. Caldwell (now retired, formerly Director of Central State University Chorus for many years). The 150 + member choir consists of members representing over 50 churches with support from volunteer choral music leaders, clergy leadership and partners. The program also enables churches to raise funds for their programs and is usually a sold-out concert. When you order your tickets, be sure to use St John’s church code (24995).
