Music Ministry
St. John's is incredibly fortunate to have two wonderful ministers of music, Cathy Roma and Rachel Kramer.
Cathy Roma
The music program at St. John's is directed by Catherine Roma, Minister of Music. Dr. Roma received her doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. In addition to her role at St. John's, Dr. Roma is:
- Founder and Artistic Director of MUSE, the Cincinnati Wome's Choir
- Associate Professor of Music at Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio
- Co-founder and Director of the Martin Luther King Coalition Chorale
- The Jane Schlissman Award for Outstanding Contributions to Women's Music, 1993
- Race Relations Recognition Award, 1999
- GALA Legacy Award, 2000
- Maurice McCracken Award, 2000
- Cincinnati Leading Woman Award, Art/Entertainment Category, 2001
Rachel Kramer
Rachel Kramer has served as Associate Music Director since 1995. Rachel holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in piano performance from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Music in piano performance and pedagogy from The University of Michigan. From 1990-1996, Kramer served as the Manager of Educational Programs for the Baldwin Piano & Organ Co. in Cincinnati, and from 1998-2001 was the Assistant Executive Director at the Music Teachers National Association in Cincinnati. Currently, Rachel is President of Music Learning Center, Inc. and runs a teaching studio of more than 300 students, ages 6-months through 7th grade. She is also the accompanist for MUSE - Cincinnati's Women's Choir, the Martin Luther King Coalition Chorale and the Wilmington College Chorale. Rachel is also the Director of St. John's Youth Choir, Voices of Variety.
